ABSTRACT
The issue of space integration in hospital planning is one that should be considered to be of great importance. The intent of this thesis is to underline the possibility of using architecture to integrate spaces in hospital design. The National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Center, Saye Village Zaria (N.T.B.L.T.C)# is used as a case study to demonstrate such possibilities. In doing this, an awareness of the type of Tuberculosis and Leprosy hospitals that are available in Nigeria, will be created. An attempt will be made in the redevelopment process to create a standard integration of space as a basis for hospital planning that will be effective for N.T.B.L.T.C; and its probable intended structures. The N.T.B.L.T.C is presently undergoing some construction to meet the increasing demands of the centre that have arisen due to the gradual dilapidation of its structural facilities. It is based on this that a redevelopment process is being proposed to help achieve this goal thereby creating a well defined environment that will have a good order of space, as well as standard requirements, in terms of high temperature and ventilation, and standard, requirement, form and ventilation. In order to achieve the desired integration of spaces in the proposed design, the following existing tuberculosis and leprosy hospitals will be studied;
