ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to establish the relative effectiveness of Cooperative learning and Problem-solving strategies on students' performance in business studies in Kaduna State. The design of the study was a quasi-experimental pre-test post-test research design using intact classes. A sample of 60 students was randomly selected from two secondary schools in northern senatorial zone of Kaduna state. Four researcher questions were drawn up to guide the study; four null hypotheses were formulated for testing at 0.05 level of significant. The instrument for data collection was a Business Studies Achievement Test (BSAT). Data collected from the study were statistically analyzed using mean, standard deviation (SD) and standard error (SE) for the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using the t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The results indicated that students taught using cooperative learning strategy performed better than those taught using problem-solving strategy. The study recommendation among others was that business studies teachers should use more of cooperative learning strategy in the teaching of Business Studies in order to improve the performance of students.
